These don't typically make it too the news, but amidst the search for justice for George Floyd, Svitlana Flom is amidst an internet controversy as a woman filmed her of calling for help because she felt threatened of the woman, who was African-American, but she says she was just sitting in the neighborhood bench.
Flom's husband was also present in their park but didn't do anything about her "alarmed" state. And people on social media, particularly on Reddit, are disgusted by the allegedly "racist" view from the Flom. The full story of both the sides are yet to unfold, but it's apparently said to be another Amy Cooper situation.
If you didn't know, Svitlana Flom is a Ukrainian home decor and food blogger, the creator and editor-in-chief of Art de Fête, who owns a restaurant called Maison Vivienne, named after her eldest daughter, in New York City. She's been featured in the HuffPost, Lipstick Alley, Flavor World and other online sites.
Svitlana Flom is married to husband Gary Flom, a former automobile mogul. According to a certain review she gave for a wedding photographer, Moite Production, the wedding was held on July 6, 2019.

He's a Russian businessman who served for the United States Marine Corps from 1983 to 1987 and even was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. His business management degree comes from the University of Maryland.
It turns out Gary Flom has had plenty of experience in the automobile retail industry, almost 30 years worth of experience. It was not confirmed until the Reddit users pointed out his company went out of business and that he used to be the President and CEO of BNF Automotive Group and Jaguar Land Rover Manhattan. To the recent incident, it's also pointed out that Jaguar and Land Rover have both said they are not associated with Mr. Flom anymore.
Over the course of his career, he's worked as an executive manager with brands like Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Mazda, Volvo and Porsche, since first starting out as a general sales manager for Prestige Lexus in 1989. He's a former financial analyst at Gulf & Western and the recipient of Ford Motor Company's prestigious President's Award and a 4-time recipient of the "100 Leaders" Award.

Flom ran sales for the Ray Catena Auto Group in New Jersey in the mid-90s. His big break happened with the role of President and CEO of the Ford Motor Company-owned Manhattan Automobile Company from 1998 to 2014.
In 2010, he opened Bay Ridge Ford dealership in Brooklyn, New York, and remained the President and CEO until his empire's bankruptcy. In 2012, he opened Kings County Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Brooklyn as a part-owner. And in 2014, he formed BNF Partners NY LLC.
Upon further investigation, it seems the claim made by the Redditer that he'd gone bankrupt was actually true. In 2016, he'd carried big ambitions to sell cars through BNF Automotive Group, securing brand partners Maserati, Infiniti, and Nissan, aside from Jaguar & Land Rover.
It was actually estimated that his company would sell $600 million worth of cars in 2016, an Observer article points out. But within a year, his empire just sort of crumbled. At the end of July 2017, he and his BNF partners, that included Veniamin Nilva & Alexander Boyko, declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy that stemmed from a bitter dispute with a manufacturer, alongside rising construction costs.

They were trying to establish & build Nissan and Infiniti dealerships on Auto Row in Hells Kitchen, Manhatten. But they couldn't pay creditors and for the construction. In September 2018, White Plains Nissan, once managed by BNF, & other dealerships were hit with a demand of $40.2 million for selling vehicles "out of trust" in 2016 & 2017.
Jaguar Land Rover of Manhattan, Bay Ridge Ford and Maserati of Manhattan were declared in the bankruptcy while the Kings County Chrysler store was not. BNF was off the map since then.
The incident happened on May 30, 2020, and Svitlana and her husband, Gary, were with their kids in the Upper West Side of Manhattan neighborhood (their restaurant is on the Upper East Side). When the call was being made, the accused woman panned the camera to Flom's husband, who was leaving the scene, and said that he didn't approach her to check on his distressed wife.

The couple have two kids together, and it's clearly seen in the video that she was pregnant with a third. Their first child is daughter Vivienne Flom, born around 2014, who is seen with the pair on several events. In a food blog she wrote on Redtri in September 2016, she mentioned she was "a mom-to-be". It lines up with the stroller in the recent video with Vivienne playing around.
There's clearly a third on the way, and it's real soon. After all the years in the automotive business, it seems he's had to take a break from it all. For now, the couple co-own a restaurant called Maison Vivienne in Manhattan, their second location since opening one of the same name in Southampton.

As to how Flom got into the food business, she says it happened after she met her husband in NYC. For Svitlana too, Art de Fête is mentioned to be decommissioned in 2018.
