Things went pretty smooth for the next two months until April 2010 when news surfaced the couple had broken up. According to Melissa, it was a mutual decision. And, their divorce was only finalized in June 2012.

The couple also shares two children with Michael giving birth to them with a help of a unidentified sperm donor. Ethridge and Michael are parents to a pair of twin sons, Miller Steven Etheridge and Johnnie Rose Etheridge.
After splitting from Tammy Lynn Michaels, Melissa Etheridge began dating her friend of nine years, Linda Wallem in 2011. Wallem is the scriptwriter and the creator of Nurse Jackie.
