Malik B, a rapper and founding member from The Roots, has passed on. He was 47.
The group declared the demise of the Philadelphia-born emcee through their social networking post on Wednesday. However, the reason for the rapper's death was not discharged.
Malik B, whose genuine name is Malik Abdul Basit, was a critical supporter of the gathering, which incorporates Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and Tariq "Dark Thought" Trotter. He showed up on four collections before leaving the gathering in 1999. The gathering won its first Grammy the next year.
