    Karen Clark Sheard is relishing a blissful married life with her husband, John Drew Sheard. Her partner, J. Drew, is a Detroit-based minister who is also the senior pastor of Greater Emmanuel Institutional Chruch of God in Christ in Detroit.

    The couple exchanged the holy wedding vows in the presence of their respective family and close ones on June 16, 1984. Since that day onwards, the two love birds have been faithfully committing their vows as husband and wife. 

    From her marriage, the God is Here singer shares two children with her partner. The couple's oldest is daughter Kierra Sheard (Born on June 20, 1987), and the youngest is son John Drew Sheard II (Born in 1989). Both of their kids walked on their parent's footsteps and are gospel singers.

    At present, Karen is living a happy and contented life with her spouse and kids. She occasionally posts pictures and videos with her family on her social media. 


    Karen Clark Sheard came was born and raised in a Christian family and is the daughter of Reverend Elbert Clark and Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, a gospel choral director. 

    The Grammy Award winner has five siblings; one brother Leo Clark, and four sisters, Jacky Clark, Denise Clark, Elbernita Clark, and Dorinda Clark. Like herself, her sisters are also gospel singers, and together they are formed a vocal group known as "The Clark Sisters."

    Some of their notable songs are "Jesus Has A Lot To Give," "Is My Living In Vain," "My Redeemer Liveth," "Something New," and "Victory." Even after more than three decades since their formation, The Clark Sisters are still together creating music. Most recently, on March 13, 2020, the group released their seventeenth album, "The Return." 

    Went Into Coma And Almost Lost Her Life  

    Everyone has their hard time in life, and Karen Clark Sheard has had her own. In 2001, her a blood vessel burst during a scheduled bariatric surgery leaving her at God's mercy.

    It was a serious problem, and her doctors gave her only a 2 percent chance of survival due to her health complications. After the blood clot was surgically removed, the singer fell into a coma.

    There was little hope for Karen, whose family could only hope and pray to God for her health. And God did hear their prayers, and after three and a half weeks, she made a miraculous recovery.

    Upon her comeback in the music, she released her second album titled "2nd Chance" in 2002. The album was inspired after her near-death experience, which went on to reach #2 on the U.S. Billboard Gospel Albums. 

    Asked how she felt during her tough times in an interview in 2011, the "Be Sure" singer said:

    "When I think back on that traumatic experience, I see God as a miracle worker! It brings me to tears just talking about it. During my sickness I was at death’s door. I’ve seen God perform miracles and bring people out of situations. But, to look at me personally, and see that God showed His hand of excellence and work a miracle through me — I am thankful to Him for just allowing me to have another chance to continue my ministry." 

    Since then, then talented singer has not faced many problems regarding her health and is doing well these days. We are happy that she is inspiring many around the world through her music and worship to God!
