And, only in 2016, Amiir's mother discussed his death in an interview that Prince and Mayte were never ready to accept the truth and that they were still grieving the loss of their beloved son. Mayte became pregnant with Amiir, which means Prince in Arabic, quickly after their wedding on Valentine's Day in 1996.

Speaking of which, Amirr Gregory Nelson's parents decided to never speak on the matter of their son in the public which is why the singer even lied about it. Not to let it go, Prince even once said that he would never share anything regarding the name and sex of his children until they decide to do it themselves.

Prince never spoke about the death of his son.
Besides, Amiir was only known as Boy Gregory at the time. And, it's believed Prince's employee, Arlene and Erlene “Nanny” Mojica who were twins sisters and worked at Prince’s Paisley Park were the ones who broke their confidentiality agreement with the singer to hide the identity of Amiir's death. For the cause, Prince even sued them for breaking the agreement.
Arlene and Erlene were also the ones who cremated Amiir under the wrong name, Boy Gregory with identifying his race as White whilst his mother's name being identified, Mia Gregory. But, as for father, no name and details were attached on the death certificate of Amiir.
Mayte Garcia, the mother of Amiir Gregory Nelson who still misses her son, has published a memoir called, The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince, detailing his life with Prince and the stuff the couple went through while enduring the death of their child. The book was published a year later after Prince's death in April 2016.
Amiir Nelson's mother suffered a miscarriage.
According to Garcia, their happiness returned when she became pregnant with another child shortly after losing Amiir. Sadly, that happiness didn't last long as Mayte suffered a miscarriage. And, losing both of their children was one of the reasons that made Amiir and Mayte separate. Prince actually didn't even talk to Mayte after learning about the miscarriage.
